Knowledge Transfer

Your best people know more than they can easily put into words.

We help experts share what they know, with dignity and consent. We help the people who stay keep it and use it.

The challenge

Why It Matters Now

Many experienced people will retire or leave their roles in the next few years. Most organisations are not ready to keep what those people know.

of organisations rarely or never capture knowledge from departing retirees. Only 30% do it most of the time or always.

There is good news in these numbers. Many experienced people have valuable knowledge and are willing to share it. We help organisations ask for it in a way that builds trust.

Our approach

Why People Come First

Experts do not always know what they know. Someone has to help them find it.

Forms and exit interviews miss the most useful parts of expertise: judgement, relationships and the exceptions to every rule. They come out in conversation, when people trust the process and feel respected.

So we put people first and technology second. This is also the reason our work is built on dignity.

How Our Wisdom Capture Method Works

What one expert knows

1

Live Expert Walkthrough

The expert shows us real work, step by step. We listen and ask questions. With their agreement, calendars and records of past decisions help them remember.

2

Peer Questioning

Colleagues ask the questions the expert would not think to answer. Peers also show who depends on the expert.

3

Clear Written Drafts

We turn the conversations into clear written drafts, with help from technology tools. People stay in charge of every word.

4

Expert Review

The expert checks and corrects everything before anyone relies on it. The expert is named and thanked for what they share.

Knowledge the whole team can use

What you keep

What Stays After We Leave

A handover guide for each role

It lists who to call, what to decide and what to do first, in plain steps that are easy to find.

A knowledge hub with controlled access

People see what their role needs. Sensitive items stay protected.

A choice of succession options

Not one fixed plan. Options include overlap time with a successor before the leader leaves, sharing duties across a team and interim cover while a role is vacant.

Support that fits the role

Larger roles get more time. Smaller roles get less. We decide together at the start.

A process your team can repeat

The tools and templates stay with you.

Early results

What We Have Seen So Far

From a pilot with a regional public health agency in the United States. These are early findings. Client names stay private.

Our framework

Built on Dignity and Fairness

Our framework is JEDI-CAB: Justice, Equity, Dignity and Inclusion, in a Culture of Accessibility and Belonging. In practice, it means fairness, respect and inclusion for everyone involved.

The living ecosystem around the work

Culture

People share what they know when it feels safe to do so.

Accessibility

Knowledge everyone can use, not only the technically fluent.

Belonging

When people belong, they share what they know.

The active drivers

J

Justice

Whose knowledge gets captured, and who decides.

E

Equity

Design for different starting points, not one size for all.

D

Dignity

Respect for expertise at every level.

I

Inclusion

The people a process serves help shape it.

Justice the Aim. Equity the Core. Belonging the Outcome.

In knowledge transfer, it means five promises.

Choice first

People choose what they share and how it is used.

Credit

Experts are named and thanked for their contributions.

Human review

A person checks every output.

Access

Plain language and more than one way to take part.

Responsible technology

We name the real costs of AI, including energy and water, and we ask the people affected what they need.

Your data, your people

Data Protection and Employee Voice

Data protection

Knowledge transfer involves information about people. We plan our work to meet GDPR requirements and agree with you at the start how information is collected, stored and used.

Employee voice

Where you have a works council or employee representatives, we involve them from the beginning. We tell you which AI tools we use and where your data is processed.

Other Ways We Help

Knowledge transfer connects to the rest of our work with people and teams.

Executive Coaching

Coaching matched to the person and the moment.

For a regional public agency, we built a coach matching system checked for fairness. A person reviews every match. In the pilot, recommendations came back within two working days.

Workforce Development

Training that fits real jobs and real learners.

We supported the launch of a large public records system with about 14,000 data-sharing partners and kept about 75 role-based training resources up to date. We also listened to more than 50 staff over 40 days before building five learning modules for regional environmental agencies.

Strategic Planning

Plans built with the people who will carry them out and the people they affect.

Fair and Inclusive Hiring

Roles, postings and interviews that widen who can apply and help everyone succeed.

Succession Planning

Clear paths for the next leader, built early. This is the handover guide work described above.

We share more examples in a call, with client permission.
